NGOs gear up for launch of SIN List of very hazardous substances
16-Sep-2008
NGOs are due to announce tomorrow the long-awaited first version of a list of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) considered by them to warrant substitution by companies and regulation by authorities. Development of the 'Substitute It Now' (SIN) 1.0 List has been led by the International Chemical Secretariat (ChemSec) with advice from eight consumer and environmental groups. It is intended to spur Member States to impose strict controls on all substances meeting the SVHC criteria stipulated by the REACH Regulation.
