US requires notification of new manufacture and import of carbon nanotubes
04-Nov-2008
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published a Federal Register notice requiring companies that intend to newly manufacture or import carbon nanotubes for commercial use to give it 90-days notice. The requirement comes under Section 5 of the Toxic Substances Control Act. The EPA reminds firms that it regards carbon nanotubes as different to graphite or other carbon allotropes and that they therefore constitute a new chemical.
