EU Commission publishes draft risk assessment reports for ethylbenzene and cryolite

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre has published a further two draft risk assessment reports (RARs) that were in the pipeline under the previous EU existing substances Regulation:
- draft RAR (environmental part) on ethylbenzene. The assessment concludes that further risk reduction measures concerning the potential of direct and indirect sources of ethylbenze to contribute to smog formation.
- draft RAR on cryolite (trisodium hexafluoroaluminate). The assessment concludes that further information particularly on downstream uses and from specific production sites in order to complete the environmental exposure assessment. To protect worker and consumer health, more data and further risk reduction measures are recommended.
