02-Jul-2009
Seven producers of higher olefins and polyalpha olefins have formed the HOPA REACH consortium. The group will work together on the registration dossiers of some 80 substances. The substances fall into the following categories:
- Linear alpha olefins predominantly single carbon number (C6 - C28)
- Linear alpha olefins with a range of carbon numbers (C10 - C54)
- Isomerised olefins consisting of alpha, internal, linear and branched carbon chains with predominantly one carbon number (C6 - C18)
- Isomerised olefins consisting of alpha, internal, linear and branched chain hydrocarbons with a range of carbon numbers (C6 - C30)
- Poly alpha olefins, polymerised olefins, usually 1-decene, 1-dodecene and or 1-tetradecene ranging in carbon number (C20 - C84)
Penman Consulting (which manages the Lower Alpha Olefins consortium) and its partner ICF International are managing the HOPA consortium. For more information contact sief.manager@hopa-reach.com
