EWG welcomes fall in sunscreens containing oxybenzone

The Environmental Working Group has welcomed a finding of its latest market survey of sunscreens in the US that shows 19% fewer sunscreens contains oxybenzone, "an active ingredient that disrupts the hormone system". However, the US Personal Care Products Council said oxybenzone is approved by the US Food and Drug Adminsitration, the EU and Canada as "a safe and effective sunscreen ingredient".
