EU eco-label criteria published for mattresses, footwear and textile products

New EU eco-label criteria have been published for mattresses and textile products. The criteria, which were agreed by the EU Eco-Labelling Board earlier this year, sparked controversy for banning the use of additive flame retardants, effectively preventing the use of the commonly used retardant deca-BDE (CW 20 March 2009). Criteria have also been published for footwear.
