Trade unions join forces to promote REACH and CLP information
The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European Chemical Workers’ Federation (EMCEF) are working together to promote information from the European Commission and the European Chemicals Agency on REACH and the Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation to companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.
The groups say that too many European firms still do not know about their obligations under the Regulations, and could end up being fined if they do not fulfil them on time.
ETUC and EMCEF plan to engage all their member organisations in Europe to pass on to employers the information resources put out by the European Commission, to help SMEs in particular. “The REACH and CLP Regulations will fall short without the unions which, with thousands of workers’ representatives, are the only organisations able to reach the maximum number of firms of all sizes in Europe,” they state.
