European Commission awards projects on nanomaterial assessment under REACH

The European Commission’s Institute for Health and Consumer Protection has awarded two new projects as part of the REACH Implementation Projects on nanomaterials (RIP-oNs) (CW Briefing September 2009)
- REACH-NanoInfo addresses information requirements on intrinsic properties of nanomaterials in the context of REACH (RIP-oN 2)
- REACH-NanoHazEx aims to provide advice on exposure assessments and conducting hazard and risk characterisation for nanomaterials (RIP-oN 3)
Both projects, which run through to 2011 are led by a consortium including Safenano, part of the UK 's Institute for Occupational Medicine, the Nanotechnology Industries Association, the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) and the Italian company Soluzioni Informatiche.
