Oil industry speciality chemicals body publishes generic exposure scenario tool
16-Mar-2010
The European Oilfield Speciality Chemicals Association (EOSCA) has published a generic exposure scenario tool (EGEST) designed to be used by chemical suppliers, operators and other users working with oil exploration and production in the North Sea.
EOSCA has designed the tool to help companies preparing chemical safety assessments and reports in support of REACH registration of chemicals used in the offshore oil industry.
The Excel spreadsheet based tool applies the ECETOC Targeted Risk Assessment methodology and the CHARM method for assessing the impact of discharges directly to the sea.
