In the US, legislation to address the presence of unsafe chemicals in cosmetics was introduced in Congress yesterday. Bill HR 5786, the Safe Cosmetics Act of 2010, is designed to close loopholes in the regulation of cosmetic ingredients for the first time in 70 years, said its backers Representatives Jan Schakowsky, Edward Markey and Tammy Baldwin.
