ECHA consults on harmonised C&L of fluorotelomer alcohol
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published a harmonised classification and labelling proposal from Norway for 8:2 fluorotelomer alcohol (8:2 FTOH). The substance is mainly used for coating textiles, paper and carpets to achieve oil, stain and water repellent properties, as a cleaning agent and is present as a residual raw material.
The proposal covers:
Proposed classification based on Directive 67/548/EEC criteria:
Xn; R48/20/22 Danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure
Proposed classification based on CLP criteria:
STOT RE.2-H373 Causes damage to organs (liver) through prolonged or repeated exposure
Proposed labelling:
Directive 67/548/EEC: Class of danger: Harmful (Xn); R48/22
CLP Regulation: Pictogram: GHS08, Signal word: Warning; Hazard statement codes: H373
Comments on the proposal can be made until 3 September.
