German risk institute says consumers need more targeted information on pesticides
29-Jul-2010
The German Federal Institute for Risk Asssessment (BfR) says a survey of German consumers has found that although they are interested in the subject of pesticides in food, they are generally unaware of the fact that small amounts of residue are legally permitted in food. Some 70% thought they were not permitted at all.
BfR concludes that sufficient information is not reaching consumers and plans a targeted information campaign.
