Electronics firms to revise chemical declaration guide
16-Apr-2008
Major representatives of the global electronic and electrical equipment industries plan to work together to revise the Joint Industry Guide for Material Composition Declaration for Electronics Products, known as JIG version 101A. The guide, which aims to bring better and consistent identification and reporting of chemical substances contained in electronic products, will be reworked to meet the new substance declaration requirements of REACH. The groups involved include the USA’s Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the European Information & Communications Technology Industry Association (EICTA) and Japanese Green Procurement Survey Standardization Initiative (JGPSSI). The original JIG 101 was published in 2005 by the Electronics Industries Alliance (EIA) and JGPSSI.
