ECHA publishes operating policies, codes of conduct
23-Apr-2008
Clear operating procedures will be essential for the complex interactions required by different parts of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), according to a policy document it published today. Written by a cross-functional team involving the agency's three directorates, its quality control and legal departments, the document says all standard operating procedures must be checked for REACH compliance in order to mitigate the risk of legal challenges. Other documents also published on a revamped ECHA site include a code of good administrative behaviour, a communication strategy, and its procedure for consultation on guidance. A further statement says that ECHA will provide a form on its website for requests for information under the Aarhus Regulation on public participation in decision-making and access to justice in environmental matters.
