May 1 deadline for silicon industry REACH consortium
25-Apr-2008
At least 10 more companies are expected to join a REACH registration consortium for silicon, ferro-silicon alloys and silica fumes before a deadline of 1 May, after which entrants will incur a 10% penalty charge. The consortium - with trade body Euroalliages acting as secretariat - went into operation on 5 April, with 16 companies having joined already. A further consortium for ferrosilicocalcium alloys is due to be launched soon together with the CaSi Institute.
