Title Module 5 Basic Toxicology and Module 11 Advanced Toxicology
Organiser Chemical Hazards Communication Society (CHCS)
Location London
Details

Module 5 is an introductory training day to the field of basic toxicology and to all of the different terms used – LD50, LC50, systemic toxicity, STOT - as well as to toxicology testing.

To enable the chemical industry to take a responsible position in the care of workers and consumers, it is important for those involved to have a basic understanding of the basic principles of human toxicology.

This one day training event is intended for those working within the chemical industry who need an introduction to the potential hazards of materials to humans and of the concepts of regulatory test methods leading to a classification regarding health effects.

MODULE 11
Module 11 is an advanced training day in toxicology. At the basic level, we learnt that standard test data can provide us with classification end points. We also know the importance of setting up human exposure scenarios in order to make basic risk assessments. An advanced level of understanding in toxicology is required when it comes to understand the toxicological mechanisms leading to different toxicological end points.

This module is aimed at those with a reasonable technical understanding of toxicology, chemistry and chemical supply classification.

The training will be partially based around the Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2009 [CHIP4 -which implements the EU 67/548/EEC DSD and 1999/45/EC DPD] as well as the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

Note: You may attend just one Module, as appropriate.
