Title Module 7 Basic CHIP Classification and Module 9 Advanced CHIP Classification and Labelling
Organiser Chemical Hazards Communication Society (CHCS)
Location London
Details

These module do not address CLP (GHS based) classification issues – this area is covered by CHCS Modules 17, 18 & 19. BUT until 2015 products will have to be classified to both schemes and so classifiers still need to know how to classify under CHIP (DSD & DPD).

MODULE 7

Correct classification of products is the key to preparing good Safety Data Sheets. This module will introduce delegates to the requirements of the Chemicals (Hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations 2009 (CHIP4 – which implements the EU 67/548/EEC DSD and 1999/45/EC DPD).

The module has been developed to give students an introductory knowledge covering the essential needs for obtaining and utilising information needed to classify. It will give personnel concerned with chemical hazard communication the knowledge and confidence to understand the issues concerned with classification of both single substances and simple preparations with only one hazard class.

MODULE 9

This module will build on the knowledge gained in Module 7 (Basic Classification) and equip delegates to deal with more complex classifications, including more complex preparations and products with multiple hazards.

Delegates will also be shown how to apply classification data to the labelling situation.
