Title Modules: 17 CLP Substance, & 18 CLP Mixtures, Classification, and 19 CLP Labelling
Organiser Chemical Hazards Communication Society (CHCS)
Location London
Details

Classification is the key procedure for hazard communication, and is central to producing useful safety data sheets and complying with chemical legislation. The chemical industry is changing to a new classification system: the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008.

Module 17

This module is designed to give an overview of CLP Regulation for Substances: what information is required for classification, how the data are obtained, and the procedure for classification, and will highlight the areas of classification that differ from the DSD/CHIP scheme.

Module 18

Specifically this module will build on the knowledge gained in Module 17 (Substances) and equip delegates to deal with classification of mixtures. Delegates will learn how to take data supplied for substances and apply that to the more complex situation of mixtures.

Module 19

Following on from the classification of substances and mixtures, it is imperative that products are correctly labelled.

This module will cover the new EU requirements for labelling of products such as the new label elements - pictograms, signal words, hazard statements and precautionary statements. Delegates will be shown how to pull these elements together into a compliant layout. The module will also cover rules for affixing of labels, language, tactile warning devices, updating, packaging, etc.
