Scientists examine evidence for impact of chemicals on female reproduction

26-Jan-2012

Scientists have reviewed evidence on the impact of endocrine-disrupting compounds on female reproductive health, in an article published in Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology.

The review highlights increasing evidence that environmental chemicals can alter female reproductive development, fertility and onset of menopause, and outlines the potential mechanisms of endocrine disruption. The authors, from the UK, Italy and Germany, also emphasise the need for further research in this area.
