03-Feb-2012
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received a proposal for an amendment to food additive regulations to allow the use of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate as an antimicrobial agent in produce wash water without the requirement of a potable water rinse.
The petition was filed by the sanitation supply company Ecolab, Inc. and will now be reviewed by the FDA. Public comments on the proposal are invited by 5 March 2012.
