Exponent's European Chemical Regulation & Food Safety Centre specialises in timely high-quality, creative, and practical solutions to issues that affect our client's ability to conduct business globally. Our experienced team includes both technical and regulatory consultants dealing with general chemicals, pesticides, bio-pesticides, biocides, cosmetics, consumer products, foods, food ingredients, and nutrition.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Ecotoxicologist/Environmental Risk Assessor to operate within our Environmental team in our Harrogate or Derby (UK) office or our London (UK) location.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Providing strategic scientific advice to clients on European regulatory ecotoxicology/environmental risk assessment issues
  • Providing high level technical documents to defend/justify the scientific/regulatory position for clients, including peer review of colleagues work
  • Conducting environmental risk assessments for European regulatory submissions of plant protection products
  • Developing a client base for providing high level environmental risk assessment services including identifying additional environmental business development opportunities.
  • Actively managing, developing and mentoring staff in the line management chain to ensure they are able to work at their full potential

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Biology, Environmental Science, or another relevant discipline
  • Proven track record in regulatory ecotoxicology
  • Wide experience of environmental risk assessment under EU plant protection product legislation (e.g. Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009)
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong team working skills
