Cambridge Environmental Assessments (CEA) provides strategic and dossier support for chemical and product registrations across Europe, encompassing agrochemicals, biocides, veterinary products and other chemical products. We specialise in designing and conducting higher tier studies, toxicology and ecotoxicology risk assessments for chemicals, biocides, pesticides, and food contact materials compliance, etc. CEA has a well-earned reputation for providing higher tier, non-standard support for challenging products in an increasingly demanding regulatory environment. Field Fate Research Technician – Nottinghamshire

12 month Fixed Term Contract

The role:

To provide technical and scientific support to research studies, delivering work to the required quality, often working to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards. To help plan and organise the delivery of work and take local responsibility for the delivery of specific field work activities in some studies as directed by the Study Director/Project Manager.

This will involve:

  • In consultation with Project Managers, helping to plan and deliver field and laboratory based research projects.
  • Maintaining experimental facilities and equipment to GLP standards including the calibration of specialist equipment for use on field and laboratory based studies.
  • Collecting and processing soil, plant and water samples according to experiment protocols for specified experiments along with carrying out other non-standard assessments and assisting in the development of new procedures.
  • Inputting of data onto computer systems, validating, collating and managing data according to GLP standards where required. Initial statistical analysis of data as prescribed by experiment protocols and tabulation of results from analysis.
  • Carrying out works as described in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and suggesting and drafting amendments to existing SOPs.
  • Carrying out office based tasks in support of a range of contracts including undertaking literature surveys and other desk-based investigations.

Successful candidates will:

  • Organise and manage scientific research experiments, using a range of techniques for applications, sampling and processing during field based studies. This will involve achieving stated objectives and meeting standards as outlined in SOPs and protocols ensuring that work is delivered within the agreed timescale and budget.
  • Compile, collate, input and QC data using excellent attention to detail and working to project protocols.
  • Carry out trial work on field and laboratory trials meticulously following procedures and instructions with attention to detail ensuring assessments and data collection and recordings are 100% accurate.
  • Maintain allocated specialist scientific equipment and ensure calibration and maintenance procedures are carried out to GLP standards.
  • Assist in organising equipment and resources, planning ahead to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Work flexibly and effectively in a wide range of working environments including outside in all weathers, on host farmer/grower premises and undertaking repetitive tasks.
  • Have an understanding of operating specialist basic computer software programmes.
  • Have a clear and demonstrable knowledge of agricultural and scientific understanding.
  • Ideally have a knowledge of quality systems with the ability to quickly take on the requirements of GLP following suitable instruction.
