Summary An exciting opportunity for a motivated systems developer to join a growing Bath-based online media company, and lead our entire systems development programme, managing external developers, whilst also working hands-on on projects. Suits an all rounder, with growing experience in managing projects, clients, partners and staff.

The role:

Due to a period of excellent growth and development, a Systems Development Manager is urgently required.

You will be taking responsibility for managing the business' systems development programme; improving existing systems & processes whilst developing further platforms to support continued growth.

You will be working closely with stakeholders across the business, including senior management, project managers & external partners.

This is both a management and a hands-on role: you will manage our overall programme and external developers, and you will also spend time developing yourself. 

In order to be considered for this role you must be proactive & motivated, with strong communication skills & the desire to stay up to date with the latest technologies, up-skilling where necessary.

Daily responsibilities including, but not limited to:-

  • Support & maintenance of in-house systems & products
  • Designing/developing new in-house systems, integrating these with those currently in place
  • Defining & designing specifications for projects within this side of the business
  • Identifying & solving system issues where these arise
  • Database design, creation & administration
  • Managing relationships with external developers & technical partners

Ideal technical skills:-

  • 3+ years of experience in software development
  • CSS
  • Javascript
  • XML (XSLT, XPath)
  • REST (or equivalent integration protocol)

Desirable technical skills:-

  • Programming experience
  • Working SQL knowledge
  • CMS experience
  • AWS
  • Salesforce
  • Google Analytics
