We are seeking an ambitious self-motivated individual to join our small regulatory team here at the BCF, the award-winning sole UK trade association for the paints, coatings, printing inks and wall-coverings industries. This is a new full-time position, based at our offices in Coventry. Relocation costs are not expected to be covered in the final package that will be offered to the successful applicant.

Your prime role will be to provide comprehensive support for our members pertaining to national and European legislation, and other technical and regulatory issues affecting our sectors. Your responsibilities will include running a number of the BCF’s technical committees (see https://www.coatings.org.uk/committee/list.aspx for details), as well as coordinating industry initiatives, and preparing documentation in support of key advocacy activities. You must be prepared to travel within the EU occasionally (1-2 trips per month) in order to represent the BCF member interests at European Trade Association and other meetings.

A detailed job description is available from the above contact, on request.

Core Requirements:

A UK Degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline, preferably Chemistry-based.

Employment experience in the industrial chemistry manufacturing sector, preferably with an organisation manufacturing or related to chemical mixtures, ideally from the paints and coatings or printing inks world (minimum 5 years’ experience expected)

Trade Association experience and detailed knowledge of global chemicals legislation would be an advantage, but is not essential – extensive training will be provided

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret and communicate complex technical issues to non-experts

Comfortable working independently and in a small team, with a flexible and reactive agenda, aligning with the current priorities for our members
