To oversee the activities on the REACH Regulation and the interactions between REACH and other European legislations, related to chemicals. The key activities for this role are related to the chemical safety assessment and the IT tools used for REACH and CLP. The REACH manager will contribute to the drive for effective implementation of REACH within the chemical industry.

Agree and define, in cooperation with Cefic members, the position of the chemical industry in the REACH related issues at European level, with special attention to chemical safety assessment, exposure assessment, the roadmap on the chemical safety report and exposure scenarios, the ENES activities and the communication in the supply chain.
Work closely together with ECHA, the European Commission and Members States Competent Authorities – on REACH implementation and future developments
Work closely together not only with the chemical industry but as well with its downstream users, both direct and those at the end of the supply chain to align on methodologies and communication needs related to chemical exposure and risk management throughout the value chain
This aspect will become even more important with the move towards circular economy.
Contribute to the discussions about chemical safety assessment and IT tools for REACH and CLP and represent the interests of the European Chemical Industry.
Represent the European Chemical industry in the relevant fora.
Ensure communication and information flow to the relevant stakeholders.
Develop and implement action plans, team objectives and mandates.
Draft position papers for external use.
Manage Cefic working groups
Can you make the difference?
The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who demonstrates the following experience and competencies:
Master’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, (eco)toxicology or similar.
At least 5 years of experience within the chemical industry or authorities; experience in regulatory affairs is a must.
Experience with risk assessment is an asset.
In depth knowledge of EU policy on chemicals, especially REACH; familiar with CLP.
Excellent communication, presentation skills and networking capacity. Ability to lead discussions and to find compromises.
Excellent English (written and spoken).
Required personal qualities:
Good interpersonal skills, good capacity to communicate with people from different backgrounds.
Good analytical and organisational skills.
Adaptability to work on tight deadlines and to handle multiple priorities;
Ability to work under pressure
Eager to learn and develop new skills.
Willingness to travel.
Willing to live in Belgium.
