We currently have a vacancy for a Regulatory Affairs Advisor reporting directly to the Clean Air Product Stewardship Manager and is part of the cross-sector product stewardship network. The primary function is to implement and coordinate systems on product stewardship within the Clean Air business, with a focus on regulatory affairs management. The position will also provide regulatory and product safety assessments for JM products, raw materials and process chemicals and assuring legislative compliance in a variety of territories.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing chemical inventories to maintain business compliance
  • Supplying of information both internally and to external customers; declarations to customers and industry groups on specific chemicals use, etc
  • Support of new product introduction (NPI) assessments and planning
  • Developing and communicating awareness of global chemical control regimes and product safety regulations through training and other appropriate hazard communications.
  • Support of chemical hazard classification and communication projects across the Sector such as guidance on safe handling of hazardous substances.
  • Support of Occupational hygiene practices, control of exposure to hazardous substances
  • Coordinates product stewardship champions’ network across all sites in the Sector.
  • Safety data sheets authoring.

Are you the ideal candidate? You will have/be:

  • Degree / post-graduate qualification in one or more of the following disciplines: Toxicology, Chemical engineering, Biomedical sciences, Biological, Chemistry or a related bachelor’s degree with 2 years’ relevant experience
  • Knowledge / experience of global chemicals control regimes (e.g. REACH, TSCA, Asia-Pacific equivalents)
  • Relevant experience in chemical product regulatory compliance and product safety assessments, gained in the chemical, metal and pharmaceutical industry, or an equivalent background, e.g. regulatory agency or contract research organisation
  • Knowledge and proficiency in chemical hazard communication systems (e.g. classification and labelling, safety data sheets, etc)
  • European / US qualifications in Toxicology, or regulatory professional accredited (Regulatory affairs) – Desirable
  • Understanding of Clean Air sector business requirements - Desirable
