Exponent's European Chemical Regulation & Food Safety Centre specialises in timely high-quality, creative, and practical solutions to issues that affect our client's ability to conduct business globally. Our experienced team includes both technical and regulatory consultants dealing with general chemicals, pesticides, bio-pesticides, biocides, cosmetics, consumer products, foods, food ingredients, and nutrition.

We are currently recruiting for an Ecotoxicologist at the Managing Scientist level to operate within our Environmental team in either our Harrogate (UK), Derby (UK), or Basel (Switzerland) office locations.  

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Conducting environmental risk assessments for plant protection products as required by EU legislation (Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009)
  • Providing advice to clients on plant protection product ecotoxicology/environmental risk assessment issues
  • Summarising and interpreting data, including study reports and published literature in the area of ecotoxicology, drawing sound scientific and regulatory conclusions
  • Data gap analysis, developing testing strategies and monitoring ecotoxicology studies
  • Providing verbal and/or written inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams and contributing to providing high level strategic advice to clients and high quality outputs

Qualifications for this position include:

  • B.Sc or M.Sc. degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (e.g biology, environmental science)
  • Experience of completing environmental risk assessments under EU plant protection product legislation (e.g. Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong team working skills
  • Sound judgement and decision-making ability
  • Good numeracy skills
