Exponent's European Chemical Regulation & Food Safety Centre specialises in timely high-quality, creative, and practical solutions to problems that affect our clients’ ability to conduct business globally. Our experienced staff include both technical and regulatory consultants who are practiced in dealing with chemicals including biocides, industrial chemicals, agrochemicals, biochemicals, cosmetics, consumer products and products of biotechnology and with foods, food ingredients, and nutrition.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Regulatory Manager (Biocides) in our Harrogate, Derby or Edinburgh UK offices.  Home working would also be considered.  The successful candidate will be providing strategic regulatory direction and technical expertise in biocides regulatory affairs.  The role involves provision of leadership in the development and implementation of regulatory strategy for the approval of new and existing active substances at community level and the authorisation of biocide products on a national, EU and global basis.  This will involve project management of complex multi-disciplinary regulatory projects and also advising colleagues and clients with respect to current and developing regulatory processes and legislation.  The role will involve staff management and the development of new business opportunities.  There is scope for the individual to develop the role into specific areas of interest where opportunities exist; e.g. building on any specific strengths, experience and contacts to enhance and extend Exponent’s range of consulting services.

Responsibilities for this position include:

Conduct consultancy work in the biocides sector including:

  • Developing and implementing strategies for EU and global regulatory authorisations; provision of strategic regulatory advice;
  • Project managing of work programmes: Including budget, communication, QA, delivery
  • Product support in a regulatory setting
  • Preparing technical reports and dossiers
  • Client representation at meetings with regulatory authorities or within industry consortia
  • Active participation with respect to legislative changes
  • Managing and developing staff

Contribute significantly to expansion of biocides business:

  • Promotional activities to attract new business opportunities;
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing relationships with existing clients

Contribute towards business development initiatives and internal policy/procedure

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Nationally / Internationally recognised as an expert in biocides
  • Degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in science-related subject
  • Cutting- edge knowledge of biocides regulatory area
  • Excellent project management
  • Ability to effectively promote expertise of self and others
  • Drive and determination to generate significant revenue for the firm
  • Flexibility to travel internationally, as required
  • Business development experience (desired)
